Inside DirectX by MS press is pretty good. It's a good reference for all things DX except D3D. Ofcourse, it's one that you'll have to buy. I believe that the SDK comes with plenty of documentation aswell though. 600 page Word docs and that's from www.microsoft.com/directx Hope this helps.
