If you use the LDP (Linux Documentation Project) look up networking HOWTO's.
Plus try the "Rute Users Tutorial and Exposition" under the Guides section.
Please note that this may require a lot of reading, but a lot of answers are
out there.  In general, I'd always suggest the LDP as a starting point for
any question about Linux.
