Help with a game - Miles Sound System

Hey Game Progers. Figured I would dump this question on you since I have had
no luck getting any response from the Tech support people at Novalogic.

This problem likely requires knowledge about the Miles Sound System to solve.

I recently purchased Tachyon: The Fringe, and have been unable to get the game
to successfully run.

My system specifications are:
Pentium II 233
128 megs ram
ATI All-In-Wonder 128 - 16 meg - Latest drivers installed
Creative Labs, Soundblaster Live - Latest drivers installed
Windows 98, DirectX 7

The following occurs when I attempt to play the game:
1: Use any method to start program (auto play, start menu icon,
Tachyon.exe strait from the install directory)
2: Computer thinks for around 10 seconds.
3: Error message "Tachyon.exe performed an Illegal operation" is
    received.
    Additional Error Message Details:
TACHYON caused an invalid page fault in
   module MSSRSX.M3D at 016f:22d0be4b.

I have taken the following correctionary measures in an attempt to get
the game to work:
1: Reinstalled the Game at least 3 times
2: Reinstalled the game to multiple drives
3: I have also downloaded and installed the latest patch from the
Novalogic website.
4: Reinstalled all the drivers for my soundcard - see below
5: Checked DirectX Diagnostics which reports no errors.

I did some checking and the File MSSRSX.M3D mentioned
in the Error Message Details says it is a part of the Miles Sound
System (I checked under properties using right click). After digging
around I have come to the conclusion that the MSSRSX.M3D
module is not the problem (I DL'd the Miles Sound System Demo
from their website and replaced the file in question as a test with
same results).
After reinstalling sound drivers with no change either I am
guessing that the fault lies in a Sound resource file for the game
which is corrupt and therefore causing the Miles Sound module to
crash.

Any suggestions on weather my hunch is correct or not?
