RE: can you answer my ?(originator,FINAL REPLY)

It comes from the guys with years of experience too..
A couple of jobs ago, we had a couple of developers
that would go on and on about whether Java or C++
was the better choice, and it usually ended in a
battle of egos.

I'll have to admit that my own response was tainted
by the intolerance for the grammer, and probably
influenced a more emotional response concerning the
language issue.

My suggestions were stemming from working on large
applications that for twenty years evolved in C and
are now being integrated into a C++ framework, and
the complications of mixing the two systems, and having
some of the developers cling to the structured way of
doing things and shortchanging the efforts of the framework.

Having to maintain another's code is an excellent way to
experience first hand what's extensible and maintainable.
IMO, first year programmers should walk down this path to
gain an understanding of the why...

Chris..

-O yep. but also there are the newbies that think they know
-O everything and they
-O are discovering new and better things when the are just
-O learning to walk :)
-O and I think it is more with the guys that just got out of school.
-O Also if you want to be a better programmer you need to
-O listen and learn from
-O others with more experience. Not just grumble with "don't
-O tell me nothing
-O I'm not the greatest but I will be and you will be sorry" :)

-O actually it has been my experience that programmers bicker
-O like this all of
-O the time in the real world. most of them are mellow but
-O their are the prima
-O donnas that think they are always right and cant admit when
-O others are
-O right. actually i am dealing with one of these right now and
-O its really
-O making it a difficult work place. so my advice to you as you
-O become a full
-O fledged programmer is: dont forget you are on a TEAM and
-O that is why you are
-O there. even if you are the hottest programmer in the company
-O you can and
-O will be replaced if you forget this so remember to keep a level head.
-O
-O what do you guys think?
