[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Game Programming Newbies
I think many people make the mistake that 'the only way to make a cool game is to have the latest versions of Visual C++, Photoshop, and Studio MAX'. This is a bad mistake. For most newbies, they should start out on DJGPP/Allegro. It is incredibly user friendly, and with Rhide, can be almost as powerful as Builder or Visual C++. I worked with DJGPP for several years, until I actually made money on a game with Radioactive Software. DirectX is great, but for those of you who can't afford Visual C++, use DJGPP. It can be very powerful, and is a great way to start off.
