Fractals

Hi everyone!

    I have been interested in fractal landscape, art, algorithms, etc.
for quite some time now but haven't had the time or intellect really to
understand all the complicated materials on it.  If any one of you has
the time and generosity to please send me a plain-english summary with
maybe a few test algorithms or something I would greatly appreciate it.
Just anything basic I can work with and embellish upon would be great.
